Introduction Danielle Nguyen
Hiii everyone!
My name is Danielle Nguyen and for this year’s BMUN 72 session I will be a vice-chair for the Myanmar Crisis Committee. Currently, I am a first year student intended to double major in Nutritional Sciences as well as Public Health! Sustainability and the environment has been a huge passion of mine, as I enjoy thrifting, going to flea and farmers markets, volunteering at the Berkeley Student Food Collective, and cooking up and developing healthy recipes that are both plant-based and delish!
This is my first year in BMUN, but I was a delegate for four years throughout high school. Most of the committees I’ve been involved in in the past have been centered around food insecurity, climate change, and biodiversity preservation. Just recently, I’ve delved into exploring crisis committees and have been in love ever since! I'm super excited to see how this committee runs in March and can’t wait to be a part of this experience with you all! I love MUN because I believe it allows all of us to hone our skills of communication and collaboration when discussing prevalent issues that are relevant to today’s world. These experiences taught me how to be confident in myself and in public speaking, gave me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, and taught me to appreciate how powerful our voices can be when advocating and addressing topics we are passionate about.
Outside of BMUN, I am involved in a variety of clubs around campus! I love working with kids and am an elementary school instructor for Cal Kids in Nutrition, an educational program where our KINstructors teach the basics of nutrition to kindergarten to 2nd grade students. I am also a part of Kesem, in which we focus on providing support for children whose parents have been affected by cancer through multiple events around the Bay Area and during the summer at Camp Kesem. I am also a HUGE lover of hiking, running, and anything to do with the outdoors and plan to run the Berkeley half marathon in November!
If you have any questions about the committee or about the topic, we are always here to help and don’t hesitate to email us at myanmarbmun72@bmun.org. See you all in a few weeks!
Best,
Danielle Nguyen <3
